Kaiyuh Services, LLC is seeking two (2) Site Safety Health Officers (SSHO) to join our team. The SSHO is multifaceted, and diversified, in its scope. This position is responsible for developing, training and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs to include, establishing and promoting a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment. This position develops organizational programs to plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for maintaining highest quality service delivery in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. Apply quality oversight principles to problems of service delivery by staff, usually under the direction and in compliance with contract specifications. May study efficiency and quality of job tasks and method, and speed involved in performance of services, maintenance, and other worker operations for such purposes as establishing standard of quality services delivery of maintenance and operations services or improving efficiency. Minimal travel may be required.

Location: Work will be performed in either Guttenberg, IA; Genoa, WI; or Fountain City, WI

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Primary Duties include:

  • Work as member of the project team
    • Assists project and operations personnel with pre-work planning to identify and evaluate work site hazards and assists in the implementation of controls to eliminate and control those hazards
    • Interfaces with client representatives, as well as representatives from various regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts worksite inspections
    • Conducts thorough worksite inspections to include permit reviews, training compliance reviews, industry standards, and company policy compliance
    • Ensures findings are documented and follows up on deficiencies until corrected
  • Manages and directs all aspects of the health, safety, and environmental programs
    • Ensures the organization complies with all current health, safety, environmental, training, and quality assurance regulations and contract requirements
    • Instructs employees in safety procedures and oversees the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and issues PPE to employees
    • Identifies and evaluates detrimental working conditions and makes adjustments to safeguard employee health
    • Collaborates with HR Department staff on Workers Compensation claims
    • Reports and communicates relevant injury information to appropriate levels and assists Project Managers in effective and timely case management
  • Maintains compliance and conducts trainings
    • Maintains course material files and develop regulatory compliant training materials
    • Supports the industrial hygiene program as per Federal Regulations and Guidelines
    • Oversees and utilizes the Loss Prevention System (LPS) by assisting and training personnel in the fundamentals of the system
    • Assists in the development of quality JLAs, assists with the execution of thorough near loss and loss investigations, and assists with the continuous refinement of procedures by participating and guiding the LPS process
  • Performs incidental tasks related to the position as well as various duties, as assigned, to support the overall objectives/goals of the team while maintaining a positive attitude.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Safety Processes, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or related field, and minimum of four (4) years of experience in the safety field with emphasis on industrial safety and training
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in safety training or course material development
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of industry standards to include OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA/NEC
  • Strong computer literacy, including written composition, database and reporting skills. Advanced level of knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Understands concepts of Worker's Compensation law
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing to convey company policies and expectations accurately
  • Possesses good analytical skills
  • Strong oversight and compliance skills required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of experience directly related to Service Operations.
  • At least one (1) year of experience delivering trainings or creating training materials.
  • Training or Teaching certification.
  • OSHA/HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience in Alaska Native Corporations preferred

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in an office setting with regular visits to construction worksites. This position interfaces with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.
