Job Title: Human Resource Generalist

Entity: Gana-A'Yoo, Limited

Location: Anchorage, AK

Work Hours and Pay: Monday-Friday; DOE

Job Summary: The Human Resources Generalist administers the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource Department. The HR Generalist handles the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, organizational development, and staffing and employment life cycle.

Reports to: HR Manager

Required Qualifications & Essential Functions:

  • Minimum two and a half years (2.5) years of HR experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, or related field
  • Previous recruiting experience preferred
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred
  • Previous experience with Davis-Bacon and Service Contract Act employees preferred
  • Experience working with unions preferred
  • Experience with multi-state sites preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office program and HRIS software
  • Experience with web-based software and cloud-based storage strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of employees, professional consultants and board members
  • Professional of Human Resource Management (PHR) preferred
  • Prior experience working for ANC or 8(a) companies is strongly preferred
  • Will spend majority of time in front of a computer with repetitive typing motions
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

 Duties:

  • Recruiting and staffing; administer recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; writes and places advertisements
  • Onboards new employees, sends welcome emails, enters new employees into two systems and generates new hire paperwork
  • Completes offboarding process and termination of employee in the HRIS
  • Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action
  • Assist with employment and compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting; maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resources management
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements
  • Assists Payroll in the preparation of payroll, entering hours, deductions, rate changes, transfers and other situations
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Record data for each employee, including such information as addresses, weekly earnings, absences, amount of sales or production, supervisory reports on performance, and dates of and reasons for terminations
  • Process, verify, and maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and classifications
  • Provides wage verifications or other employment requests.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions
  • Other duties as assigned
