Job Title: Payroll Accountant

Entity: Gana-A'Yoo, Limited

Location: Anchorage, AK

Work Hours and Pay: Monday-Friday; DOE

Job Summary: This position is responsible for all aspects of the payroll process for Gana-A'Yoo Limited and subsidiaries.  Performs all activities necessary to review and process one or more multi-state payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports, voluntary deduction reports, processing levies and garnishments, completing worker's compensation reports and audits, vacation/PTO, and sick accruals, and reconciles payroll to general ledger.

Reports to: Controller

Required Qualifications & Essential Functions:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Three (3) + years' specialized experience in all relevant contractual payroll functions and general ledger duties
  • Government contract experience including the ability to work with managers to incorporate new contracts.
  • Experience in Alaska Native Corporations preferred but not required
  • Experience in the preparation of payroll, using Costpoint, including computation of salary payments and deductions and resolution of discrepancies
  • Experience with multi-state, wage determinations and Union payrolls
  • Provide professional, courteous, and timely customer service to employees who have inquiries and issues with paychecks, deductions and garnishments.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Must be current with payroll regulations, compliance issues, and follows changes in tax and deduction laws
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Will spend majority of time in front of a computer with repetitive typing motions
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check


  • Review, process, and post all time entered by employees using multiple timekeeping systems
  • Computes and disburses wages, deductions, taxes and other withholdings for companies and multiple states
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for multiple states and locations
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned payroll and related GL accounts for all companies
  • Interface with HR department on all employee deductions/contributions for each payroll
  • Prepare all tax deposits and returns required for monthly, semi-monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance as required by state and federal regulations in a timely fashion.
  • Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures
  • Prepare certified payrolls as required by contracts
  • Other job duties as assigned

  • Ensures accurate preparation and balancing of weekly and special payroll, payroll balance sheet, and summaries
